Gavin Strang kick's off Edinburgh's Go Green Week

5 February 2008

Gavin Strang MP will this afternoon meet student environmental campaigners to herald the start of Go Green week.

Members of Edinburgh University People and Planet group will meet with Gavin Strang and present him with over one hundred postcards from student constituents calling for a strong Climate Change Bill.

People and Planet are holding Go Green week from 16-24 February to create pressure for action to help avoid the worst impacts of climate change.

The event will take place at 2.45pm this afternoon outside Teviot House, Bristo Square.

In a comment, Gavin Strang said today:

‘The UK must respond more urgently to climate change.

‘Climate change is with us, it is real, and it has the potential to deliver great harm across our planet.

‘I welcome the steps that the Government has taken to address greenhouse gas emissions, at home and within the international community. It is clear, though, that we must do more.’
