Constituency

Edinburgh East

The constituency is made up of all of all of east Edinburgh and parts of the city centre.

In the city centre it takes in the Old Town, Southside, Tollcross and Holyrood. The constituency then stretches east from Easter Road to Portobello, and south from Craigentinny and Leith Links to Prestonfield, Craigmillar and Newcraighall.

It currently has an electorate of 65,154. Edinburgh East has been represented by a Labour Member of Parliament since 1924, and by Gavin Strang since 1970. His majority at the 2005 election was 6,202. To see the results in detail, click here.
